Academy Award® winner Oliver Stone directs this epic documentary series, which explores the critical yet unreported events that have shaped America’s rich history. Stone has tackled some of the country’s most provocative subjects in acclaimed films such as Platoon, Wall Street, Born on the Fourth of July, JFK, W. and Nixon and this series takes an even closer look at a wealth of overlooked or hidden archive material from around the world to accurately and impartially chronicle the country’s most significant events over the last century.
Stone takes viewers on an illuminating journey through the Eisenhower and Kennedy administrations and the Korean, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghan Wars before shining a spotlight
on largely unknown aspects of the war on terror and America’s role in the world since the fall of Communism. From President Harry Truman’s decision to drop the atomic bomb on Japan to the origins and reasons for the Cold War with the Soviet Union, each episode uncovers a side of history that has been airbrushed from textbooks, providing a fresh insight into America’s colourful and complex story throughout the 20th century.
