COMEDY
This is Jinsy Veep Step back into Jinsy’s weirdly wonderful world
Steering clear of conventional comedy customs, Sky Atlantic HD went off the grid in search of something different. The result was This is Jinsy, a “slice of oddball humour quite unlike any other” (The Independent). Lovingly crafted by scribes and stars Chris Bran and Justin Chubb, the series charted the adventures of Arbiter Maven (Chubb) and his beleaguered assistant Sporall (Bran) on the fictional island of Jinsy, scrambling surreal sketches, songs and even its own lexicon to create a woozy, wackadoodle treat.
Our return trip couldn’t have been better timed, what with it being the Follication Ceremony. A great honour is bestowed on Maven in the comeback episode as he prepares to be crowned with the ancient scalp of Arbiter Lertock. Trouble looms, however, in the form of Maven’s thinning thatch. Male pattern baldness is a big no-no and things get hairy when he takes desperate measures to obtain luscious locks. Expect to see more familiarly faced visitors too, following in the footsteps of David Tennant, Catherine Tate and Harry Hill.

22 Julia Louis-Dreyfus returns as VP Selina Meyer
With its first season garnering three Emmy Award® nominations and Julia Louis-Dreyfus taking home the award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her role as vice president Selina Meyer, Veep returns for season two as Armando Iannucci’s satire continues to lampoon the inner workings of American politics.
The first season saw Selina obsess over her short-lived Clean Jobs Task Force, but despite the best efforts of Gary, Amy, Mike and Dan – her tireless team of troubleshooters – her popularity nosedived and she soon became the laughing stock of Washington with derogatory nicknames such as Meyer the Liar, the Wicked Witch of the West Wing and Blunder Woman trending in the blogosphere.
Selina may have entered politics with loftier ambitions than the position of veep but with the top job of president now a mere pipe dream she is incessantly striving for the respect of her peers. By the end of season one, her team was falling apart, but a host of new faces entering the fray will keep everyone on their toes this time around.
