Sky Living HD spreads the love with a new series of comic films penned by some of Britain’s brightest writers
Look no further for love and laughter than this collection of original productions about the peaks and pitfalls of modern romance. Sarah Solemani (Him & Her) assumes her first writing role to create and star in Aphrodite Fry as an offbeat Brighton artist who creates a dating phenomenon after a disappointing one-night stand, while Peep Show and Edinburgh Festival smash Isy Suttie unites comedy and song in Miss Wright, a deliciously sweet will- they-won’t-they musical tale.
These razor-sharp scribes breathe new life into this popular genre with a series of stories depicting relationships of all shapes and sizes. Emphatically proving that love is indeed most complicated is A Nice Arrangement by Sanjeev Kohli (Still Game, Angelos Epithemiou’s Moving On), in which the chance of a happy union is stifled by a man’s infatuation with a woman who isn’t his lesbian fiancée. Chris Little (The 11 O’Clock Show) and Tom Vinnicombe (Ronna & Beverly) take a different route in 30 and Counting, when a lonely heart hits the jackpot by finding the ‘woman’ of his dreams online.
And last but not least are two accomplished soap writers transferring their wealth of experience to a comedy format.
