Now, its prodigious creator and star is set to deliver a sophomore season packed with more insightful humour, sexual mishaps and twentysomething tribulations.
After a crushing fall-out with her boyfriend Adam (Adam Driver), season one ended with Hannah (Dunham) realising her relationship is as damaged as her dreams of literary success. With a brutal taste of independent life under her belt, Hannah may be older, but will her litany of embarrassing experiences have made her any wiser?

With Girls’ cast of fascinating characters sure to expand, there’s already a host of guest stars lined up to appear, including Community’s Donald Glover, Rita Wilson (It’s Complicated) as Marnie’s mum and Patrick Wilson (Young Adult) as a hunky doctor. Chris O’Dowd (Moone Boy) will also return in the role of Jessa’s new husband. Girls season two airs on Sky Atlantic HD the day after its US broadcast.
