DAMIAN LAZARUS, THE UNDERGROUND ARTS, PHILADELPHIA, PA

SEPTEMBER 27 DAMIAN LAZARUS

BEYOND WONDERLAND, OAKLAND COLISEUM GROUNDS, OAKLAND, CA

SEPTEMBER 29 OFFICIAL LINEUP TBA

The first edition of Beyond Wonderland Bay Area is set for the end of September, promising the same top shelf line-up presented by its original counterpart in Los Angeles, which has sold out each year it has been in existence. As we write this, the lineup – promised on September 5 – hasn’t been released by Insomniac Events, promoters of the equally popular Electric Daisy Carnival, but their reputation alone has been enough to shift thousands of tickets. Rumored to have let slip a stop in Oakland on their tour date posts are also big name acts including Orbital, Avicii, Dirty South and Borgore, a flavor no doubt of the cross-section of sounds that will be filling dancers ears. But who really needs to know a line-up these days anyway? Clearly not the leading promoters in the game considering the Bay Area edition is reportedly close to selling out already. With the action set across three stages, featuring various creative interpretations of Alice and the Mad Hatter to keep the senses stimulated, the anticipation is palpable around the San Francisco area as evidenced on Facebook and Twitter. Join the party and find out just how deep the rabbit hole really goes...

Absolutely fitting the venue name for this one, Damian Lazarus makes a stop in Philly at the end of the month. There is something ridiculously awesome and endearing about off-the-wall, outside-the-box types, and if you’ve ever taken a peek at Damian’s Twitter page or read his blog, you’ll know this man falls somewhere in this category (if you were forced to even put him into one). I mean, we all probably have some left-of-centre creativity in our minds, a ‘what if’ scenario, but only a true genius can manifest those into reality. Not only does this man do that via Crosstown Rebels, his record label with a Midas roster, but there is also the Rebel Rave visual series and, most importantly, his music. He takes you there, eradicates boundaries and is one of the few that can truly speak the word ‘rebel’ and mean it. Everybody needs to cross town for this one. Oh, and high five him for the 100th release on Crosstown Rebels! Then do it again one more time from us.
