Back in April 2012 when it was announced on the cPanel Community Forums and other news outlets including Ping! Zine that the upcoming cPanel EDGE tier with Attracta Integration was imminent, the topic and thread got a lot of attention from the cPanel Community. Some of it, at times, a bit harsh.

That’s where I come in. On those forums my nickname is Infopro, and I’m a member of the cPanel Forums moderating team and cPanel Product Evangelist. A part of my job is to assist in keeping things moving in a positive and professional direction on the forums.

When that thread seemed like it had more questions than answers at one point, I decided to take a closer look at Attracta myself, grab some screenshots and post them to the forums for all to see it in action. Many people didn’t know what it was, how it worked, what kind of changes it would make to accounts, how the revenue sharing aspect worked and so on.

As I was working on those screenshots, I thought about some of these questions as well. I was hoping the screenshots I was about to post would be helpful to this Attracta discussion.

There were some heated comments along the way though. Valid concerns of course, but some comments were over the top, and while reminding some users to remain respectful, I found myself in the awkward position several times defending Attracta and cPanel for this new integration, while still grasping to understand it all as well, right along with the community.

A fortunate side effect of my continued emails at the time to Troy over at Attracta and Aaron Phillips of cPanel while looking for answers for that forum thread was, I was ultimately given access to the Attracta Development team to ask them some questions of my own, directly, for this article!

What follows is that Q&A via email with Troy McCasland from the Attracta Team.
