Storm On Demand How easy was the cloud deployment?

Every option was available on the same screen with prices clearly listed. How long did it take?

14 minutes 16 seconds although when cPanel install time is taken into account, they have one of the fastest provisioning times due to the pre-made template not requiring a manual install.

Was the interface easy to use?

The interface was well organized and easy to use. Options were very well detailed at creation and they provided a chkserv.d-like service report on the interface level through the cPanel API.

Was the installation of cPanel & WHM easy? This was the easiest install of any of the reviewed companies. They offer a cPanel template that already has the software installed. It’s as simple as selecting the template and creating it.

How was the process for adding more CPU & RAM to the Cloud Instance? They offer both a “quick” and “full” resize, the latter includes increasing disk space while the former does not. This allows administrators to increase the CPU and RAM to meet demand much faster when the additional disk space isn’t required immediately and allows for outages to be scheduled for a more convenient time.

Was the process of adding additional IP addresses easy? The initial configuration page allows an instance to provision with up to eight IP addresses without justification. They do note on the page that it’s possible to receive more than eight per instance but it requires contacting their sales team directly to discuss such a need.

Are there remote backup options and were you able to enable them? They only offer automatic daily backups with no mention of weekly or monthly options available.

Mobile interface LiquidWeb was able to confirm that they don’t currently offer an iOS or Android application.

Summary LiquidWeb’s StormOnDemand offerings are a solid choice for users looking to deploy multiple, large cloud instances and need to be able to easily have access to a large amount of IP addresses on each. The installation, interface and ease of deployment make it very friendly to beginning administrators although their lack of a mobile application for instance management and scarce backup options makes me feel like they are behind in a pure feature to feature comparison of what some of the other providers are offering. Overall, I believe that this service would be an acceptable choice for beginning to advanced administrators looking for an easy way to deploy multiple instances simultaneously and be able to determine the service status via their management portal.
