OFF THE RECORD

FROM THE ARCHIVE... FIVE YEARS AGO MCV October 19th 2007

ON THE COVER

Publishing giant EA took over Trafalgar Square for three days during the 2007 London Games Festival. The ‘Be The One’ fest gave gamers the chance to play its current and upcoming titles. EA got the public involved with live challenges against each other or celebrity guests from the worlds of showbiz, entertainment

and sports. VIOLENT TIMES

Ahead of the Government’s dossier on violent games content, we investigated the dark and bloody world of violence in video games. We ran down the issues piece by piece with more graphs than you can shake a stick at.

One of the most

interesting articles came from vocal mothers who posted their concerns about violent video games on raisingkids.co.uk.

One mother complained about giving one of her children – aged nine – pocket money to buy a game and he returned from the counter with an 18-rated title filled with violence and sex.

HAIR DON’T Interesting doesn’t exactly express our feelings about this advertising gem. We’ve never thought about bribing loved ones with classic games on PC from £4.99 but if it gets Enid’s wheels greased then it might be worth a go.

Still dying to play some Mario Tennis. I got caught too up in #NSMB2. Literally run out of 3DS/VITA games to play :-/

That’s it, I’m off to the gym everyday before the Golden Joysticks. Waaaaay too much cake for one man this past month.

Had a lovely drink with the @NamcoBandaiUK crew. I hate living in Brighton :-( I can’t wait till I move closer to London!
