REHAU offers three innovative solutions developed for the London Underground; the
patented, height-adjustable GRP Insulator, the highly visible protective guard-boarding and the GRP Slipper run.
REHAU’s GRP insulator is a patented, height adjustable solution developed in partnership with Transport for London as a replacement to the traditional porcelain P21 & P20 insulators. These insulators are manufactured from a Low Smoke and Fume (LSF) GRP material and comply with the London Underground Engineering Standard 1-085 - the fire safety standard used on the Underground. REHAU’s insulators are suitable for both over ground and tunnel areas. The GRP material is tough, chip resistant and lightweight.
REHAU’s protective guard-boarding is the highly visible alternative to the traditional wooden boarding. REHAU’s protective boarding is used where there is risk of rail staff coming in contact with the live conductor rail or where a signal rail needs protection from the

application of a short circuit bar. As a result, it is manufactured in bright yellow, impact resistant PVC with clearly printed warning notices. Supplied pre-cut, installation is simple and is significantly quicker than the traditional wooden boarding; REHAU’s solution is virtually maintenance free.
REHAU’s GRP slipper run is the latest addition to the London Underground family. Replacing the traditional timber (wood) product, the GRP solution provided by REHAU is supplied pre- shaped and pre-drilled; as a result installation does not require specialist carpenters or trades men. The result is an extensive reduction in both installation time and costs. REHAU’s Slipper runs are light–weight, textured on the surface for reduced slipping and offer the typical benefits of the GRP material.
