Celtic Recycling is set to enter into new markets, creating 50 new jobs, following completion of its £5m expansion at Queensway Meadows, Newport, says its managing director Keith James.

C

eltic Recycling, the UK leader in the decommissioning and recycling of

end-of-life heavy electrical equipment, has positioned itself to enter into new market sectors, following the completion of its £5m development at Queensway Meadows, Newport creating 50 new highly skilled jobs.

Following acquisition in 2008, development of the 4.1 acre site was split into two phases. Phase 1 involved the total refurbishment of the existing building providing 16,000 sq. ft. of warehouse space for the disposal, processing and recycling of end-of-life heavy electrical equipment as well as the treatment and disposal of hazardous waste. 6,000 sq. ft. of modern office space and training facilities were also constructed as part of the first phase development which completed in 2010.

Following the successful completion of the development, the very first transformer was received into the heavy load bay for dismantling on 8 May 2012.

Celtic Recycling is committed to providing innovative recycling and waste management solutions to the industry. Located just off Junction 24 of the M4, the new site at Queensway Meadows, Newport complements existing operations at Bridgend and Barnsley, South Yorkshire.

The newly-developed

recycling facilities at Newport are unique within the UK at the present time, and to the best of the company’s knowledge, unrivalled within Europe.
