SFC, comments: “We are delighted that the La Bella family has chosen to invest in SFC. The La Bellas are one of the first few to take up the new SFC brand and recognise its potential. We have great plans to grow the business and aim to become one of the leading quick-service restaurant brands in the UK over the next five years.” He adds: “It’s also very special for my family to have an SFC presence in Norwich, as Norfolk is where the business dream began. Moving from wartime London, Dad enjoyed years of a much quieter life on a farm caring for and raising chickens before moving to the US and coming up with the SFC idea.” Southern Fried Chicken is one of
the UK’s fastest-growing fast-food franchises, offering quality food, hearty portions, good service, a multi-choice menu and fair prices.
Since appearing on Channel 4’s
‘Undercover Boss’ in 2010, Andrew Withers has gone on a mission to revive the SFC brand following his findings on the programme and the ‘new-look’ SFC has now launched in over 30 countries worldwide. Andrew has now set his sights on the UK, launching the brand in eight

coming British quick-service restaurant, Southern Fried Chicken (SFC). The siblings, who are all in their 20s, have invested in excess of £200,000 into SFC – which recently underwent a major brand revamp following its managing director’s television appearance on a workplace documentary. The La Bella family, who already own six businesses in Norwich, including Papa Johns and Subway, will be the first to bring the revamped SFC brand to the region and simultaneously support local chicken farmers by using chicken from a co- operative of farms in the area. The new franchise, which officially opened in The Mall Kitchen Food Court in March 2012, is the first of its kind in Norwich and falls under the siblings’

orwich-based siblings Romina, Lorenzo and Luca La Bella, have expanded their growing franchise portfolio in the region with the inclusion of up-and-
umbrella company, LRL Legacy Ltd. The La Bella family chose to invest in
Southern Fried Chicken after identifying a gap in the market for a quick-service restaurant that offers locally reared and sourced poultry. The business also differs from its competitors in that it prepares all its food freshly on the premises and does not use reconstituted chicken meat in any of its products.
Commenting on the expanding portfolio of businesses, Romina La Bella, 29, says: “We are delighted to be taking on SFC as part of our expanding business portfolio. Our experience in the quick-service industry will compliment this new venture as we look to turn the business into a success. “In today’s economic climate, quick-
service restaurants are a booming industry. Our family has already tapped into some leading franchises, such as Subway and Papa Johns, and we are confident that SFC will follow in the same footsteps as these established and successful brands.” Andrew Withers, managing director of
locations in the past four months. From the company’s head office in Headley Park, Reading, Andrew continues to train his focus on UK brand development and rollout as he looks to launch 200 new stores over the next five years. Andrew’s father, Arthur Withers, trademarked the name ‘Southern Fried Chicken’ in 1983, following a period of work on a chicken farm in Norfolk and a stint in Greenville, Carolina, where he came across the unique SFC recipe during Sunday lunch at a hotel. SFC is proud to prepare all its food,
freshly, on the premises and does not use reconstituted chicken meat in any of its chicken products, supporting its ‘lip-licking’ slogan. All its chicken is sourced from British farmers. n
