his opinion concerning Russia’s real economic conditions in their relation to organising fastener production. Alexander Ivchenko, the chief researcher at the National Metallurgical Academy of the Ukraine, is expected to provide useful data regarding the role that raw materials and technologies play in the manufacture of competitive high strength fasteners. Igor Gorynin’s presentation – Mr Gorynin occupies the position of the head of the testing laboratory at Prometey Central Research Institute of Structural Materials and holds a PhD in engineering – will embrace the issues of general technical requirements to mechanical fasteners. Mr Gorynin will also speak on materials and technologies for manufacturing fasteners.

The St. Petersburg Technical Fair at the Lenexpo Exhibition Complex, features a conference titled - high strength fasteners: quality and responsibility.

he conference is organised with the support of the Rosmetiz Hardware Association and Fasteners, Adhesives, Tools and ...Magazine, with Alexander Ostashov, editor of the magazine acting as moderator.

Vladimir Ageev, a doctor of science and the CEO at Bridge

Science and Production Centre – will touch upon two significant subjects of the industry’s legal environment. First, the influence that legal requirements exert on quality improvement of high strength fasteners and reliability support of friction grip bolted connections; second, the trends of updating national standards for high strength fasteners. His colleague Evgeny Kabanov, a PhD in engineering and the chief researcher at the same Prometey Centre, will address the topic of how surface coatings could and shall be used for high strength fasteners in order to improve their quality and durability. Vladimir Erofeev, head of manufacturing engineering

division at GIPROMETIZ OJSC LENGIPROMEZ will examine development prospects for railroad fastening production. Vadim Podkhomutnikov, Mostovik Research and Production Association, will devote his report to China’s current role and attempt to answer whether this country is a threat or a stimulus for the development of metalware industry in Russia? Finally, Kirill Nechaev – a doctor of science and the scientific editor of Fasteners, adhesives, tools and… Magazine – will share his opinion, thoughts and impressions of innovative engineering solutions in the field of high strength joints.
