BSS INDUSTRIAL ADDS HIRE
Pipeline and heating products supplier, BSS Industrial, which is part of the Travis Perkins group, has launched a specialist hire division. Called Hire-It, the operation will focus primarily on the industrial plumbing and heating, mechanical services, and ventilation contractors’ market. Five depots were opened in February, being implants in existing BSS
Industrial locations in Bristol, Manchester, Newcastle, Reading and Romford. Further outlets will be introduced alongside other BSS Industrial trade counters throughout the year.Typical products available for hire will include pressing tools, threading machines and welding
equipment. Customers will also have access to items from TP Hire, Travis Perkins’ tool hire division. Frank Elkins, BSS Industrial’s MD, described the launch as “an incredibly exciting initiative for BSS Industrial and for our customers, offering brand new equipment for hire from a specially trained team. We understand that sourcing equipment for hire can be costly and time consuming. Hire-It has been designed to provide a complete solution, whereby these needs can be met at the same time as purchasing the materials we have traditionally offered.”
Smiths wins Hire Network Award
The Cleveleys branch of Smiths Equipment Hire has won The Hire Network Award, which recognises excellent performance by staff at an individual depot. The two runners up were the Slough outlet of Already Hire and the Carnforth depot of Hartley Hire. The presentation was made by Hire Network Director, Trevor Tinker, during the
Executive Hire Show. “We place a lot of orders with many hire companies throughout the country, and the Award is our way of highlighting those who really pull out all the stops in fulfilling them,” he said. Pictured receiving their trophies are, from left, David Cadwallader of Already Hire, Andrew Newton from Hartley Hire, Smiths Equipment Hire’s David and Thomas Smith, and Trevor Tinker.
ArcGen Hilta makes Lighthouse Club donation
On the first day of the Executive Hire Show, ArcGen Hilta made a charitable donation of £1,500 to The Lighthouse Club’s Benevolent Fund, which offers financial help to those affected by illness or accidents in the construction industry. The money was raised following the manufacturer’s pledge to donate £10 to the charity, up to a total of £1,500, for each SMC lighting tower purchased before the end of 2011.
