EXECUTIVE HIRE SHOW REVIEW continued
Sumner gives a lift
Sumner Manufacturing UK unveiled the Series 2416 contractor’s lift, which gives a maximum lift height of 4.9m and has a load capacity of 200kg. It is of one-piece construction, meaning there are no components to be lost, and the product is designed to
be compact enough to fit inside a small van. The cable on the unit is located inside the mast for protection, and pulley guards are fitted to prevent it from becoming detached. Two plunger pins allow the forks to be released quickly for storage.

New from Norton, a brand of Saint-Gobain, is the Explorer+ multi-purpose laser welded diamond blade, which has trapezoid shaped 12mm segments that are designed to give faster cutting, lower levels of vibration and longer product life. An arrow-shaped depth indicator shows the direction of rotation to
facilitate mounting the blade, and when in use a stroboscopic effect displays 5mm and 10mm cutting depths. A laser-cut central section of the blade can also be pressed out by the operator, enabling it to be used on machines with either 20 or 24.5mm spindle diameters.

Shindaiwa adds larger model
Shindaiwa showed its new ECO500A diesel welder generator, the biggest model yet in the manufacturer’s line-up. The machine can provide 500A of power for one operator, or 250A for two users. The super silent unit can also supply 18kVA of three phase power.
The company believes that hirers will appreciate the fact that, if required, the machine can be set and locked into one of three different operating modes before being delivered to site, for use as a welder only, power generation only, or both.

Seen on The Hire Supply Company stand was an enhanced range of Dosko stump grinders, available in 6, 9 and 13hp versions. The two smaller machines have folding handles to facilitate transportation. MD Gary McWilliam says that hirers will particularly appreciate
the fact that the cutting teeth can be slackened off, rotated through 120° and re-tightened, giving a maximum of three grinding surfaces.
This means that a machine can be kept in use for longer periods before blade re-sharpening is required.
