EXECUTIVE HIRE SHOW REVIEW

“Bringing our industry together”

EHN talks to hirers who visited the Show, to discover what they saw that fired their enthusiasm, and why attending the exhibition is so important.

Dennis Gwynne, Technical Director of Andrews Sykes Hire, was particularly impressed by the PuraFuel systems demonstrated by Western Environmental Solutions’ Matthew Botterill, that are designed to remove water, rust, dirt and other contaminants from diesel stored in steel tanks.

This is a super idea that can reduce the number of service callouts to deal with clogged filters and contaminated fuel. Attending the Show is a great way of finding out about

developments like these

and, generally, keeping up to date.

It is very

important that hirers support their industry’s event, and the Show organising team does a great job in delivering a worthwhile, professionally run event. The exhibition is an excellent networking opportunity, enabling you to meet old friends and make new contacts.

While you can find out some information about products on the Internet, there’s really no substitute for actually doing business in person.

Seamus Byrne (right) and Ronan Cotter of Dundalk-based Dromad Hire found plenty of interest during their visit.

The Show enables us to see many key suppliers in one place, and to put faces to the names of people we regularly speak to, and this helps to strengthen business relationships. We have seen much of interest here, and we have bought some thermal imaging cameras from Dri-Eaz, pressure washers from our compatriots at Peden Power, and we opened an account with Tyrolit for core drills. We were also very impressed by the new Yanmar ViO30 mini excavators on the Ammann Equipment stand - we standardise on Yanmar machines for our zero tail swing fleet. We really enjoy visiting the Show, which just keeps getting better. The organising

team treats us with the same level of care that we treat our own customers, and with free admission to the exhibition and, even, a free breakfast, there’s really no reason why any hirer should not attend.

Matt Dolan of Alpine Tool Hire, pictured on the Seddons stand with Pete

McMutrie, told EHN he got a tremendous amount from his visit.

I find it

inspiring. Getting away from the normal routine and visiting the exhibition makes you receptive to new ideas and opportunities, and I came away with loads of information on the latest products. I also picked up lots of catalogues and literature about items that I’ll keep on file as a resource. It’s a great opportunity to keep in touch with existing suppliers like Seddons, from which we buy items like floor saws, hydraulic breakers and pumps, and I bought more plate compactors from Ammann Equipment at the Show. I also ordered some new Elite heaters from The Hire Supply Company, as well as some dehumidifiers from Kroll UK. There was an incredible amount to see. I went round the main hall and

the Top Tier three times in the morning and then twice more in the afternoon, to make sure I hadn’t missed anything. It was really worthwhile and I got a real lift from visiting the Show.
