EXECUTIVE HIRE SHOW REVIEW continued
Shannon Solo develops more potential
Having launched its innovative Solo remote controlled micro high tip dumper at last year’s Show, Shannon Plant (South West) has been busy developing new versions. These include a mower with a 1100mm wide mulching deck, an elevating water tender for fire fighting and, even, a bomb disposal unit.
Of particular interest to hire companies serving the demolition industry is the latest model equipped with loader arms and an attachment bracket. This can accept a 800mm wide loader bucket or a small hydraulic breaker, such as the Atlas Copco SB52 that was seen on the machine at the Show. Being able to remotely control this four wheel drive, skid steer unit from up to 100m away allows its operator to avoid potential risk from falling debris or structural collapse.

Versatility is a key feature of the Ventrac ride-on grounds care machines offered by first-time exhibitor Kyoeisha UK. Displayed on the company’s stand were the 26hp 3200 and 31hp 4200 models, both of which are powered by Briggs & Stratton Vanguard diesel engines.
The machines can be fitted with a variety of attachments that are designed for quick changeover. These include brushes, snow ploughs, stump grinders and mowers, and the units can be used on gradients of up to 30°. Kyoeisha also manufactures the Baroness range of mowing equipment.

Smart lighting solution
Given the gales that have buffeted the country earlier this year, the launch by Smart Lights of a wind reactive mobile lighting tower appears timely. The IQ MT-10 has an anemometer to measure wind speed, and when gusts exceed a 60mph safe limit, its tower automatically lowers from its maximum height of 9.2m until a safe reading is obtained. It stays at this level and can only be raised manually, to enable a safety inspection to be made. The machine has a 10hp Perkins engine and a Stamford alternator, together with four 1000W metal halide lights as standard. Smart Lights says the reactive system can be supplied for fitting to other makes of lighting tower with hydraulic masts.
