he National Franchise Exhibition, taking place on 24 & 25 February at the NEC, Birmingham, is a new event for this time of year following its success in October.

“ For potential franchisees, it’s vital to research and gather information and guidance about the industry”

The National Franchise Exhibition is the only franchise exhibition in Birmingham to be supported by the British Franchise Association (bfa) and it only allows franchise companies that have met the association’s code of ethics to exhibit. Visitors can have confi dence in the franchise opportunities available, as they are an ethical entity within the UK market. Alongside the many exhibitors is a packed

programme of additional features which are free to visitors at the show. The comprehensive conference with more than 20 seminars, the Franchisee Panel and Careers Clinic, among others, will arm visitors with the information,

support and guidance they need to explore the opportunities that franchising offers. Exclusive to The National Franchise Exhibition are the Open Sessions held by McDonald’s where visitors can meet staff and gain a unique insight into being part of one of the world’s biggest brands. The Business Plan Clinic is also a useful feature, providing the opportunity to learn all about securing funding and to receive professional advice on drafting a business plan – a key starting-point to developing a successful business. Visitors bringing their families to the event can keep them entertained at The Children’s Activity Centre. Run by the award-winning Creation Station, this free exploration class allows children to get creative along with a parent, while their partner takes the opportunity to discover more about franchising. Those who attended The National Franchise Exhibition in October 2011 were positive about the value of going to the event to fi nd and meet franchise businesses face-to-face. Ian Johnson, a furniture buyer from Boston, Lincolnshire, commented: “I have seen a variety of different ideas at affordable prices that I had not thought about before coming to the show. I’ve come away more positive after today.” Adrian Goodsell, Franchise Exhibitions Manager at Venture Marketing Group, organisers of The National Franchise Exhibition, concludes: “For potential franchisees, it’s vital to research and gather information and guidance about the industry. A visit to The National Franchise Exhibition is the perfect way to do this as it has everything under one roof – from franchise business opportunities and advice to support and networking.” 

the NEC, Birmingham, in February and one that we look forward to welcoming many new visitors to. With such strong interest over the past few years it is important that those considering franchising get the right advice and don’t just accept what is put in front of them. This show is one of just a few that the British Franchise Association (bfa) accredits and supports because it has a proper standards-based approach and puts objective advice fi rst.

Even in the face of tough economic conditions the number of outlets and number of different brands in franchising have continued to increase in the UK. However, don’t forget that despite all their inherent strengths, franchise opportunities are still businesses. They need to be right for you and you need to be right for them. It is essential that you research the options and get the right advice. Throughout the show the bfa will be on hand to help visitors learn more about franchising and help direct them to the various professional advisors in the industry. You will also be able to access a series of free educational seminars about the realities of franchising and all that you need to consider.

This makes The National Franchise Exhibition your ideal starting place for franchising.
