The UK’s voluntary self-regulating governing body for franchising
bfa set to launch franchisee membership
The bfa is in the final stages of opening up the association to franchisees to join as individual voting members. The new concept will for the first time allow franchisees of all bfa-accredited franchisors to join. Benefits of membership will include representation within the bfa, online-training programs, news and information, and special offers on products and services.
The franchisees will also take on the
responsibility of electing three directors to the bfa’s board. If you are currently considering joining a franchise then it’s worth noting that only members of accredited brands within the bfa will be able to apply for membership.
The bfa will continue to work closely with franchisors to help develop and deliver this new programme. Further details and developments can be followed on the bfa website,
www.thebfa.org.

Cathryn Hayes, head of franchising at HSBC, said: “With the right business strategies in place, franchising is an effective model which supports the growth of thousands of businesses across the UK every year. The bfa HSBC Franchisor of the Year Awards uncover inspirational examples of this from across the industry. Previous winners illustrate how implementing the right systems can carry the
network, along with maximising potential for the brand and supporting franchisees. If you are one of these businesses we want to hear from you.”
Brian Smart, director general of the bfa, said: “Each year the awards uncover the most remarkable success stories in franchising and the extraordinary people that drive these businesses, large and small, to greatness. The winners set high standards to inspire and motivate others across the UK to employ fresh and effective ways to achieve business success.”
Sean Hammond, head of franchising
