articles and event coverage. We live in central CA and I’d be interested in submitting photos from some of the off road events that we attend if you would be interesed.

3 Cheers for Photojournalist

Rodney Rutherford Hello Sherri,

My son and I got a chance to meet Rod yesterday at Perris. Rod interviewed Grant after he won the 50cc and 65cc two day race at Perris. We would like to purchase some magazines once the article comes out. Rod said it would be in the January issue. It was a pleasure to meet Rod, he does a heck of a job!

If you have any questions my contact information is below. We’re from Porterville, Ca. and just wondering if you come up this far with your magazine. Porterville is halfway between Bakersfield and Fresno. Thank you for your time in this matter! Please let Rod know it was a pleasure to meet him and hope to see him at more races. Thank you, BRYAN HOLMES Porterville CA We are always looking for stores to put the magazine in. As we told Bryan if anyone knows of off road shops in their area that would like to carry S&S Off Road Magazine put them in touch with us and we’ll get them on our dealer list. They can contact Sherri 760-767-4680 or editor@ss-offroadmagazine.com

Kawasaki 238 Project

Beautiful job you have done on the Green Streak. I have seen some of your other bikes over the years and I have never seen anyone do better work than you. The Green Streak was nice from the factory but I think you have really outdone yourself on this one!! PAUL POWELL San Diego CA

Thanks for Taking

a Stand Ms. Kukla,

Thank you for the courage you displayed in your November editorial. Too many publishers are reluctant to “take a stand” on political issues due to fear of alienating some readers. Unfortunately, the reality faced by the publisher of an off-road oriented magazine is the fact there will not be any readers if there is not a political change at the highest levels of our government. The off-road community is under assault from many sources. The EPA is aggressively going after a number of Arizona communities for failing to meet EPA dust level rules. On high pollution days all off-road activity is banned in the counties not meeting the EPA dust standard (high pollution days are defined by ozone levels, not dust, yet the ban is for travel on trails). Consideration is being given by the Bureau of Land Management to ban motorized travel on

Posted on www.SS-OffRoadMagazine.com regarding the 1969 Kawasaki 238 project Steve, Very interesting rebuild to say the least. I remember when these bikes came out (the Kawi and Yami). I had just purchased the Suzuki x6 250 Scrambler and the Kawasaki was on the floor at the Kawasaki dealer but I decided I wanted something for both street and a little off road. I wished at the time I could afford them both but the Suzuki was an astronomical price of $535.00 out the door and the Kawasaki was about $450.00 + so I had to choose just one of them.

the current OHV trails in the Oregon Dunes. Approximately a third of the Imperial Dunes were closed in 1974. More than half of the remaining dune area was closed in 2000 to protect the Peirson’s milk-vetch plant (a short lived plant that used to have its seeds spread by off-road vehicles). The Imperial Dunes riding area is now 20% of what it was 40 years ago. The list goes on. OHV enthusiasts are an endangered species. And there are very few politicians supporting the OHV viewpoint. Only one thing will save the OHV hobby: Replacing any current politician or administrative bureaucrat opposed to our sport with others who are sensitive to our plight. It is critical the OHV community become active in the 2012 election. Thank you for having the courage to “name names” to get this effort launched. My Best,

GORDON KROGH Surprise, AZ
