would like to thank Southland Racing, SCFTA, and Lloyd McGregor. Woody Kyle Racing/Fredericktown Yamaha/Thor's Sammy Halbert was on his first trip to Perris, racing Saturday he high sided on lap two in the back straight while running third in the Pro Main. He saved it, but fell out of contention although he soldiered on to finish the race in eighth. Saturday night's Pro main victor, Simi Valley Kawasaki's Kayl Kolkman always rides Perris well but Halbert seemed to have the glitches worked out and was ready to romp on Sunday, and romp he did. Halbert shot to the point on the green with Kolkman close, except for a slight bobble in turn four at the mid- way point allowing Kolkman to pull even for a second, Halbert got back to work and brought the win home, Kolkman stayed within range finishing second. Roadbike freestyler star, Aaron Colton under the tutelage of the Wood family, rode to an impressive third. SCFTA regu- lars David Bush fourth and Nick Gil in his first SCFTA Pro race fifth.

outhern California Flat Track Association's (SCFTA) Round 12, was the final race on their traditional climax weekend of the series, begin-

ning with Round 11 on Saturday and concluding with the Sunday round, bringing a successful end to the series which began in April. Most of the SCFTA Series Cham- pions were already determined prior to this sunny De- cember Sunday, but a few needed to point out in order to bolt up their respective crowns, let's race. Travis Petton IV had sixteen points over Courtney

D'Avignon in Youth 50 class. He motored away for the win racing in the 50 Youth "A" in round twelve scream- ing his KTM into the lead and the title, D'Avignon placed second in the race and finished up nineteen points be- hind Petton. Grant Holmes, racing in the Youth 50 B on this day, ripped his Cobra 50 to the class win and has visions as well as the speed to keep him on top of the box in the future. From Porterville, California, the six year old straight "A" student has been terrorizing the tracks in the area for two years now. He is the 2011 Fresno Barnburners 50 Champion, the 2011 Digger Helm National Champion at Bakersfield in September, and continues to build the resume with numerous race victo- ries. He will continue to race for 2012 and beyond, thanking JP Tuning and his parents.

Storied road racer, Jon Kocinski, won ten rounds on his way to 250 Vintage Expert title, #12E is Jeff Lessley

Larry Earhart charged to the front in the Senior Vet 50+ Main, but James Wood was unrelenting hounding Earhart producing an inside pass on lap three of the eight

lap main for the lead. It was SCFTA's Vince Graves’ turn. Putting the heat on Earhart he took the inside rail in turn two on lap five for second. Earhart attacked back and regained control of second. At the checkers we have Wood, Earhart, Graves, and Jim Ottele. Ottele may have lost the battle but won the war with the Senior Vet +50 title and the top spot in Vintage 750 for his second 2011 SCFTA title. Graves rode with speeding fury and manufactured a great series, as racer and pro- moter as well. Going up against seasoned flat track racer Dennis Kanegae and dueling side by side with him at several rounds Graves persevered. Winning the last nine rounds Graves came home with his organization’s 2011 Vet Super Senior +60 title. Corey Bauman prodded his steed to the front of the Open Novice main, Chris Theis, Nick Ottele, and Allison Stacey fourth chasing hard. Nick Ottele starts picking them off, first in order was Theis. In second, Ottele made his way past Bauman and roared to his eighth class win, Bauman, Theis third, and twelve-year- old Stacey fourth. Nick Ottele is the son of Jim Ottele, but despite such a strong racing influence he has only been taking the green flag for eighteen months. The sev- enteen-year-old has been riding since he was five, he was relegated to racing a 250 2-stroke for two rounds stepping down from his 450F. Not missing a step, he kept up his strong finishes and ended the series with four consecutive wins. Like his dad, he loves the slide and

David Bush recently obtained his AMA Pro Singles license at Calistoga and won two rounds in the SCFTA Pro class. In his thirties, David Bush is the heart and soul of what SCFTA represents, family, fun, and core racing. With his brother, Robert Bush, the two put on some great shows in the Open Amateur class in 2009 tussling on the flat with epic battles between themselves and numerous competitors. David Bush pushes the en- velope and despite his lack of dominance is a steeled competitor that digs deep within himself regardless of the odds to do the best he can. This scrappy determination and “stick to it no matter what” attitude is why David Bush won the 2011 SCFTA Pro Championship for his second consecutive SCFTA Pro title. He would like to thank Kawasaki of Simi Valley, RC Bush Roof Ser- vices, Richie’s Hydraulics, Bob Harris, Lundgren Tile Service, and his entire family. The 2011 Open Amateur Champion, Nick Gil has come up to speed in the last three years culminating with his promotion to the SCFTA Pro class for the last round. Winning his first race in 2009 he moved on to the Open Novice class in 2010. Gil is a racer to keep an eye on in the future and should be giving David Bush fits as they both compete for the 2012 SCFTA Pro title. The 1990 World 250cc Champion and 1997 Superbike Cham- pion, John Kocinski, won the last ten rounds in the 250 Vintage Expert for the legendary racer's 2011 SCFTA title.
