Mott shot out to an immediate lead in moto two with Covarrubias and Suarez giving chase. Just like in the first moto, Mott wasted little time in pulling away from the field and eventually greeting the checkers first with a substantial lead. Covarrubias had his hands full with Suarez for the entire moto but managed to keep the Honda rider at bay for the duration to earn the second place trophy. Mark Saldibar battled with Erickson and managed to put a last lap pass on the fellow Kawasaki pilot to finish fourth and claim third in the final standings over the 6-3 of Suarez,

Lites Beginner class winner Justin Mott (126) leading Mark Saldibar (476), Justin Covarrubias (110) and Nicholas Suarez (187) in first moto racing.

t the opening round of M2X Racing’s Fall Finale Series, Justin Mott ran away with the first Lites Beginner moto win only to have any chance of a double moto sweep go out the window when his chain broke early in moto two while running at the front of the pack. Mott got his chain fixed and proceeded to destroy the competition this week during round two of the series, held at the A.V. Motoplex Ride Park. Mott started things off in his favor by absconding with the first moto holeshot on his YZ250F, ahead of Justin Covarrubias, Nicholas Suarez and Jordan Erickson. Mott quickly put some distance between himself and Covarrubias who was a few seconds ahead of a good battle over third between Erickson, Samuel Saldibar and Mark Saldibar. By the midway point Mott had a comfortable 12-second advantage over Covarrubias and that gap would nearly double by time the checkers waved. Covarrubias finished a lonely second with Mark Saldibar holding off Erickson at the line for third. Samual Saldibar rounded out the top five,

Honda-mounted Skyler Nicholson holeshot the first 85cc Beginner contest and led about half a lap before getting out of shape in a whoop section and going down. Jason Dowell inherited the top spot and would proceed to go the distance uncontested for the win. Nicholson put in an incredible ride, coming from dead last after his first lap fall to get around Dylan Delgado on the penultimate circuit to finish in second place. Tyler Colvin was fourth, followed by Danny Gonzalez Jr. and Joshua Dowell. Moto two was all Nicholson’s, as he had his all white CR150F in the point position right from the drop of the gate and never looked back. Jason Dowell gated in second and that’s right where he would finish, ahead of Delgado, Gonzalez and Joshua Dowell. Blake Gardner was in a class of his own in the 50cc Open class as the KTM rider simply checked out from the rest of the field in both motos. Luke Jacobs was runner-up to Gardner in the opening moto, ahead of Scout Swing and Tanner Forbus, who were practically glued together. Jacobs didn’t make the gate for moto two which left Swing and Forbus to carry on in another moto-long battle, this time over second place in which Swing would prevail for the second place trophy. Tan- ner Busch would go 5-4 for fourth overall. Jacobs would return to pick off an overall win of his own on his KTM by acing both motos of the 50cc 0- 6 age class. Swing kept Jacobs in his sights enroute to a pair of second place finishes. Jordan Dowell came from out of the pack in both races to go 3-3 over the 4-4 of Dalton Houghton and 5-5 of Adriana Ocampo. Bob Hanna had his CR450F running at the front of

the 40+ Amateur field before Angel Rodriquez took over by the end of lap one. Anthony Taylor pushed Hanna

back one more position a lap later and set out after his friend Rodriquez. Taylor reeled in Rodriquez at the mid- way point, but Rodriquez found a little extra speed and inched away for the win. Hanna held on for third, over Lee Parks and Ray Engelhardt.

Parks holeshot moto two on his KTM but was quickly overtaken by both Rodriquez and Hanna. Rodriquez went down in a turn with Hanna slowing to miss him, which allowed Taylor to slip by them both and into the top spot. Taylor outran Hanna to see the check- ers first. Rodriquez fought his way back up into an impressive third place finish for second overall on the day over Hanna. Parks went 4-4 for fourth. Results 50 BEG: 1. Isaac Thorpe, 2. Owen Thorpe, 3.
