peedworld Raceway Park hosted Round 9 and the final race of the 2011 World Off-Road Championship Series Quad race on
The final round was a muddy one which made it hard to identify the majority of the racers
November 13, 2011. As with many automotive sports, November is usually when most hold the end of season races. I was not able to make the bike event this year but heard it was like the similar season events. There was some fast action and some great competition especially the Pros race. The quad’s first day was overcast with cool weather but I did not get to enjoy the action that day due to my job. The second day I was able to make the races. The night before it had rained and the course was a little muddy. For some reason every year things go hand in hand: Speedworld, WORCS and rain. The first moto took off and before the first race could make it half way through the desert course the competitors were covered in mud. It was hard to tell after the first lap who was the leader. Some even had mud covering their rear number plates. The first moto got the job to pound the water from the mud. By the time the Pros’ started, the course had dried somewhat but still had mud pockets. It was Dustin Nelson riding a Yamaha who took an early lead and held it for 10 laps of competition for a first place victory. Both Jeremie Warnia and Josh Frederick were only minutes behind the leader to hold on to 2nd and 3rd places.
Can’t wait to see what the 2012 race season holds for the quads.
