Dear Sisters, My year has been unbelievably memorable
so far! Not only have I met so many of you, but I have attended two wonderful events. Back in September, my home state of California put together a Homecoming I will never forget. You can read about it on Pages 4-6. I gave the fi rst donations of the year, one for a special veterans’ home and the other for cancer research. In October, the Ladies Auxiliary VFW had the privilege of sponsoring the 125th Anniversary of the Statue of Liberty. That day was fi lled with more memories than I can tell you about. It was a very special day, and you can read about it on Pages 20-25. Thank you to everyone who helped make that day amazing! Our National Mid-Year Conference is just around the corner. There is a

www.ladiesauxvfw.org/news/eventinfo.html. Did I mention it’s in Hawaii? I hope to see many of you there. I promise it will be unforgettable! There is so much information available on the Internet, it’s hard to know
where to turn or what to read. Blogs, which are like fi rst-person commentaries, are being written by anyone and everyone, including the military community. On Pages 10-12, read about some of the military-themed blogs we’ve found, including military spouses and a Ladies Auxiliary VFW member. We’re on our way to achieving our goals for our programs, including the
Cancer Aid & Research Program. National Director Tami Elliot has come up with a whole new EASY way for your Auxiliary to raise money for the important fi ght against cancer. Learn more about the 7-7-7 Campaign on Pages 14-15. Any Auxiliary can make this happen! I just love what our members are doing for veterans and active-duty
military, including this touching story of one member who cooks up a storm for “her boys.” Be inspired by this tireless volunteer on Pages 26-28. Whatever you are doing for veterans and active-duty military, I know you are
doing it with heart. I am asking everyone this year to Step Up – Leave No Veteran Behind. Will it take effort? Will it take sacrifi ce? Yes, but that is no less than they were willing to give for us. Join me, Sisters, in giving our best for our best.
