Cherepon, Korean War veteran George Little, Vietnam War veteran Rick Rankin, Operation Desert Storm veteran George Petritch and Operation Iraqi Freedom veteran Kevin Burns. Keynote speaker VFW Commander-in-Chief Richard DeNoyer said, “The hope that Lady Liberty brings to new Americans is the hope of liberty, self-government and the chance to go as far as their talents will take them.”
She has welcomed more than 12 million immigrants, he noted, one of them his father-in-law, who came from Italy to become the personifi cation of the American dream.
With that dream-come-true in mind, the crowd united in singing “God Bless America” before turning toward home and their individual roles of grateful service to God and country. ■ MS
