For Lady Liberty’s 125th Birthday!
W
hen the Statue of Liberty was fi rst introduced to Americans in 1886, she was doubly veiled by dreary weather and the drape concealing
her before the multitudes awaiting their fi rst glimpse. For the 125th anniversary of her inauguration on October 28 this year,
every well-wisher in attendance had a crystalline view of Lady Liberty, a picture-perfect memory to last a lifetime. Several hundred Ladies Auxiliary VFW members and guests arrived for this milestone event on Liberty Island, where the festivities were lit by steady sunshine and infused with musical tributes by the Tulsa Praise Orchestra and the magnifi cent soloists Ernestine Dillard and Dave Boyer.
