To reduce the amount of strips to be joined, consider making longer strips with the following method.
1. Square up ½ yard of fabric, right sides together, by aligning the selvedge edges and trim sides. Photo 1.
2. Sew along all three sides, without sewing through the fold. Photo 2.
3. Find the 45° angle and mark a line from both directions of the fabric, creating an X. Photo 3.
4. Turn the fabric over, pulling bottom corners to the top. Mark an X on the other side. Photo 4.
5 Snip into the first layer and with scissors, cut Tutorial
along one diagonal line on the top layer only. Stop cutting at corner. Photo 5.
6. Turn over again, pulling bottom corners to top, and repeat process of snipping and cutting single layer on the line. Te fabric now has two opposite slits on opposite sides. Photo 6.
7. Using newly slit openings, open lengthwise and flatten into shape revealing a joined tube of fabric. Press seams open, working around the puckered corners. Photo 7.
8. Square up sides by trimming puckered corners. Cut strips to desired width. Photo 8.
9. Unpick one seam and use or join strip(s) as needed for bias binding.
