1. Mark a 3½” diameter circle around each appliqué centre using a fabric marker. 2. Apply glue from glue gun onto the circle outline. 3. Press rick rack to circle outline. 4. Sew a straight stitch along the rick rack to secure. 5. Quilt. Te appliqué centres of this quilt are ideal for creating a medallion design. Although our quilter used intricate feathering in her medallion, consider following and echoing the line of the circle for simple emphasis of the medallion. Small meandering within the circle helps emphasise the design and Irish chain running throughout. 6. Create scallop edges by marking with a specialty ruler or template. See page 78 for guidelines on creating scallop borders. 7. Cut binding on bias of fabric. Join strips. 8. Attach binding with walking foot at marked lines. Trim excess quilt after attaching binding. 9. Blind stitch the binding to the back.
