tour guides encourage visitors to take the hike up to Mary’s Bridge, where they will have a panoramic view of the castle and the surrounding mountains. T e bridge was also a favorite spot of Ludwig’s. It was originally built as a birthday giſt for Ludwig’s mother, Mary, from his father, King Maximilian II, in 1850. T e bridge is set high above a gorge and a waterfall fl ows freely below. It is a popular site for tourists and is one of the best places to get a picture of this fairy tale castle.
