hats and to hear the odd 'Yee Ha!' at World Travel Market this year (November 7-10) as The Canadian Tourism Commission (CTC) and around 30 tourism partners create a cowboy atmosphere on Stand NA100. The team will be dressed to impress
as they prepare to celebrate the forthcoming 100th anniversary of the Calgary Stampede in 2012. Publicity for the 2011 Stampede

circulated around the world when the Royal couple, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, proudly donned their white cowboy hats at the iconic event this year, and now the CTC aims to build on the momentum generated by the visit. The CTC will be giving away extra copies of Selling Canada and encouraging agents to sign up for the Canadian training programme. They aim to showcase the breadth of holiday experiences on offer including new
activities such as the new Edge Walk at CN Tower, a new Rocky Mountaineer route, and revamped Via Rail services. This November sees the launch of a
C$2 million UK TV ad campaign which brings Canada back to the screens for the first time in over eight years. A new four-part Charley Boorman series on Channel 5 will also raise the public profile of Canada as the adventurer bikes his way across the country.

Canada’s campaign goes large THE Canadian Tourism Commission
UK has launched its biggest ever national winter advertising campaign. The campaign is running in national
newspapers, the National Geographic, British Airways’ Highlife magazine, at London Underground and mainline stations and online. It challenges consumers to discover what type of winter personality they are by driving them to a microsite featuring signature Canadian winter experiences linked to travel offers from industry partners. Consumers can find out if they are a
‘polar bear with cubs’, a ‘snow hare’ or a ‘wolf ‘ to determine their Canadian winter personality and identify the type of winter holiday that might suit them

with Whistler due to open on November 24 it looks set to be a fab winter season. La Nina weather pattern is returning, which typically means incredible snow conditions in western Canada. For non-skiers, activities such as the Winter Carnaval in Québec City, Ice Wine Festivals, dog-sledding and the Ice Hotel are all great reasons to visit. In the end nothing beats personal
experience to help agents sell and this month’s Selling Canada contains a special fam trip section reporting on the recent adventures of our accredited travel agents. Their reactions to the destination and the people they met should certainly help inspire you to join our training programme and encourage you to sell more of Canada!
best. A linked Facebook competition campaign also offers 10 branded Canada iPads as prizes. Rupert Peters, managing director CTC
UK, said: "Canada is a four-season destination and this campaign is created to highlight the delights and charms of a Canadian winter. It is not all about skiing and boarding - we talk about the great Québec Winter Carnaval, the Niagara Ice Wine Festival and dog-sledding in Manitoba. Unlike in the UK, just because it snows life doesn't have to stop. Canada embraces winter full on and we want the British to come and be enthused by what we have to offer in a pristine winter wonderland."
