LJ:You can take in any number of gifts up to the value of CAN$60.00 per gift. This does not include alcoholic beverages or tobacco products. If the value of any gift exceeds CAN$60.00, your client will be liable to pay duty on that item or items.

I have clients who want to watch an ice hockey


match whilst on holiday. How can we go about booking tickets? LJ:The regular ice hockey season starts in October and runs through until early April. All major teams are part of the National Hockey League (NHL) and their fixtures can be viewed on their website pages. Single game tickets can also be purchased online but it's usually a case of taking what's left as fans snap up season tickets well in advance. The team websites can be found via www.nhl.com

Canada. Do you know if they will need an ESTA to do this? LJ:When entering the US by land an ESTA is not required. When they arrive at the port of entry they will simply present their valid UK passport, be asked to complete the I-94W and pay the $6.00pp entry fee and will be placed on the visa waiver programme. They may be asked for a copy of


their itinerary and to show their return airline ticket from Canada. The officer may also ask them to prove adequate funds to support their stay.
