BEEN THERE done that!

BEING a Canada Specialist Agent for many years and a twice winner of the Canada Travel Specialist Award, I have been lucky enough to have visited many parts of Canada. One the best trips I have ever experienced was a heli-hiking adventure in the Canadian Rockies, in the Purcell Mountains of British Columbia. I flew out in early May and first spent a fantastic few days in the Rockies

exploring the Banff National Park and staying in some amazing hotels such as the Fairmont Banff Springs and Chateau Lake Louise right on the edge of the beautiful lake. I then flew on, by helicopter, to the Bugaboo Lodge, which is one of four remote lodges only accessible by helicopter. I must admit that the thought of heli-hiking filled me with dread but I figured it was one of those once-in-a-lifetime opportunities and I just had to do it. My fears were soon dismissed. The

experience of flying in a helicopter was awesome, the hiking was not strenuous

area, the helicopter flew in, picked us up and flew us to another beautiful area to hike there. At one point we even hiked on a glacier, the memory of which will stay with me forever, thanks to the breathtaking scenery and the fact we were miles away from anywhere. One of my most lasting memories of

the trip is of waking up at sunrise to watch the sun come up over Lake Louise and seeing the breathtaking reflections in the lake – just like looking into a mirror. It was almost impossible to tell

where the waters of the lake ended and the sky begun. Canada is one of those places that

can have a truly spellbinding affect on people. For me, the whole experience was just amazing and will stay with me for a lifetime.
