The new association is now the single source for technical standards, market research and business practice guidelines for the entire electronics industry, givingmembers unprecedented access to industry data that is critical to a company's competitiveness.
On January 1, 2011, the Electronic Components Industry Association (ECIA) officially combined the resources of two industry associations: the Electronic Components Association (ECA) and the National Electronics Distributors Association (NEDA). Each of the founding organizations had a long and rich history of serving the industry and their constituents.
The new association can now speak as a
united front to promote the authorized sale of electronic components and fight the perils of counterfeit product. In addition to manufacturers and authorized distributors, membership is also open to manufacturers' representatives.
"Today, ourmission and ourmembership are
all about selling authorized electronic components – how we canmake it better, more profitable andmore efficient for ourmembers to do that," said Robin B. Gray, Jr., ECIA president and CEO. "We now represent all elements of the industry. Our focus as an organization is to be the one source for information, statistics and standards for the industry."
Access to technical standards and business
practice guidelines are a valuable benefit to ECIA members. Technical standards are governed by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). The effectivemanagement of these standards is critical to a company's competitiveness. Business practice guidelines are established through a variety ofmember councils and committees. The opportunity to collaborate and establish these important processes is invaluable.
Statistics compiled by the association provide one-of-a-kind industry
data to itsmembers. Fromdetailedmonthlymarketing sales and bookings reports to bi-annual benefit and salary surveys, members
