Avnet buys Taiwanese distributors


Strengthening its position in the Asian market, Avnet, Inc., headquartered in Phoenix, Ariz., has acquired Prospect Technology Corp., a semiconductor distributor with operations in Taiwan, and J.C. Tally Trading Co., Ltd. and its affiliate Shanghai FR International Trading, an interconnect, passive and electromechanical components (IP&E) distributor in Asia with operations in Taiwan and China.


Prospect Technology,with revenue


of about $157million in 2010, provides technical support,module solutions and circuit design.With a focus on battery and powermanagement, the distributor's line card includes Texas Instruments, LSI and Nuvoton.

in 2010, J.C. Tally's line card includes complementary suppliers such as NCC, Kemet, Panasonic, Coiltronics and Bussman. J.C. Tally also will be integrated into the operations of Avnet ElectronicsMarketing Asia.

Two of themost recent electronic component distributors to join ECIA's new "authorized-only" parts inventory search website are Sager Electronics and Allied Electronics. Both distributors have added their entire components inventory to the search site in an effort to combat counterfeit components in the supply chain.


ECIA says the www.eciaauthorized.comsite


is a key part of the industry association's strategy to deal with counterfeit parts, by providing component buyers with a secure location to find authorized product. Currently, more than two dozen authorized distributors make their inventories available for search at the site. Sponsoring ECIAmembers include Digi-Key, TTI, Sager, Avnet Express,Mouser, Allied and Future Electronics.


As one of the latest distributors to add its


available inventory to the site, Sager Electronics is a North American distributor of electronic componentswith corporate offices and a 100,000- square-footwarehouse inMiddleborough,Mass.

Mouser earns AS9120A certification


Mouser Electronics, Inc. has completed the required audits to be registered as an AS9120A distributor. AS9120A is a quality management certification for distributors of aerospace commodity parts, which addresses chain of custody, traceability, control and availability of records.


Mouser will carry dual registration to


AS9120A and ISO 9001:2008 to serve both aerospace customers and customers who purchase commercial products.
