A large part of this growth is expected to be driven by cable and terrestrial digitization projects in a large number of emergingmarkets.

Avnet shares connector stock availability

Backed by more than five million SKUs and physical value-added services, Avnet Express, the e-Commerce engine for Avnet ElectronicsMarketing, Phoenix, Ariz., now gives online customers the ability to view stock that is available to build connector assemblies.

Customers who purchase connector

assemblies at www.avnetexpress.com can now see what Avnet can build with the individual components on-hand – with assembly times ranging from three to five days.

"Now, not only can our customers

benefit from our vast in-stock inventory, they can take advantage of our expertise in building connector assemblies," stated Beth Ely, vice president of Avnet Express. "This visibility will give our customers a better way to manage their supply chain – and ultimately accelerate their time to market."

In the last year alone, Avnet has built

Substance reporting guide released for product packaging

The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), DIGITALEUROPE, and the Japanese Green Procurement Survey Standardization Initiative (JGPSSI) have released a guide for the supply-chain disclosure of substances used in packaging for the global sale and distribution of electronic products.

The "Joint Industry Guide -Material

Composition Declaration for Packaging of Electrotechnical Products - JIG-201 Ed. 1.0" is said to be the first industrymaterials declaration guide for reporting across the global supply chain on substances contained inmaterials used to transport and protect electrotechnical products. This data is required bymanufacturers and other purchasers to complywith regulations, meet design specifications, and reach sustainability goals and other objectives, said CEA.

The new document complements the

existingmaterial composition declaration guide for electrotechnical products called the "Joint Industry Guide" or "JIG 101" and adopts a similar reporting format.

JIG-201 setsminimumrequirements for

material declaration of electronic product packaging including a list of relevant substances and their reporting thresholds and reportable applications. The guide can be downloaded free of charge at www.CE.org/JIG201.
