Alpha Flight Alan Hayes Alpha Flight has appointed Alan Hayes as gm of Alpha Flight Management Services. Previously with Thomson Airways, Alan was responsible for the commercial performance of the retail range, marketing, space planning and in-flight entertainment . He delivered three successive years of growth in in-flight sales, rolled out new, end-to-end in-flight sales technology including handheld sales devices, POS software and back office systems. Alan will assume overall management responsibility for the Monarch contract.


Air New Zealand Christopher Luxon Air New Zealand has appointed Christopher Luxon to the role of group general manager international airline. Christopher joins from Unilever where he has


been president and ceo of Unilever Canada since December 2008. In this role he was responsible for leading Unilever’s US$ 1.4 billion business and 1,500 employees in Canada.


Jet Airways Lydia Nazareth Jet Airways has appointed Lydia Nazareth as gm for the UK and Ireland based at the airline’s corporate office in Hammersmith, London. Lydia has been with Jet Airways in the


UK for nine years, the last three serving as gm – sales. She brings to the role a wealth of experience of the aviation and sales sectors, plus leadership and management qualities. Prior to her roles in the UK, Lydia worked


with Jet Air Private Limited, based in India. In her new role, Lydia will be responsible for passenger and cargo sales and operations, marketing and promotions, airport operations and HR.

SPH Gérard Bertrand Group Christophe Balaÿ French winemaker SPH Gérard Bertrand Group has appointed experienced travel retail executive Christophe Balaÿ as global travel retail director. Balaÿ, who is based at the corporate headquarters at Château L’Hospitalet in Narbonne, in the south of France, is in charge of worldwide duty free and travel retail including supplies to airlines and ferries. Balaÿ previously held several international


roles as travel retail consultant for gourmet brands such as Weiss chocolate, Newtree and Bruck foie gras. He has also held several senior roles as general manager sales and marketing at Cristalleries Royales de Champagne and as International Sales Manager at Chloé (Richemont Luxury group). Before that he gained experience in the field


of wines and spirits in the 1990s, as travel retail agent and consultant for Elduris Vodka and Champagne Duval-Leroy.


D&F Marketing Mike Currie D&F Marketing has appointed Mike Currie as vp global airline sales. Mike is well-known in the airline community, recognised for developing winning strategies for solutions selling, transition management and value-added customer services. As global senior vp of marketing and sales


at LSG Sky Chefs from 2001-2005, Mike was responsible for managing sales and partnering with key airlines in the US, Canada and Europe and was a member of the global executive sales team for LSG. He served as president, then chairman of


IFSA from 2002 to 2006. In 2006, Mike and his wife Gloria founded Cruise Holidays of Southlake, TX, a successful cruise and travel speciality store in Dallas-Fort Worth.


Pauline Smith Al Bateen Executive Airport Al Bateen Executive Airport in Abu Dhabi, has appointed Pauline Smith to a new role as FBO manager. She joins from ExecuJet Middle East where she was responsible for the running of its FBO facility at Dubai International Airport. Pauline reports to gm Stephen Jones, working alongside a strong team committed to creating a prestigious, world-class business aviation facility. Pauline started her aviation career 17 years ago with Harrods Aviation at London/Stansted and has also worked at London Luton Airport and ExecuJet.


bmi baby Stephen Morrell bmibaby has appointed Stephen Morrell as its new head of cabin services. He joins from Virgin Atlantic where he worked for thirteen years, starting as cabin crew and being quickly promoted to become one of the youngest-ever flight service managers for the airline. Stephen will be responsible for bmibaby cabin crew based at the airline’s four UK bases.


BOM Group Ian Smith Ian Smith has been appointed ceo of BOM Group responsible for running the group along with its subsidiaries BOM IT Solutions, Clue and Initium Onboard. Ian has 30 years management experience


in running IT businesses and delivering multimillion dollar IT programmes. Before joining BOM, Ian held a director position for ING Bank, where his role was to provide independent assurance on the various global IT organisations.
