Munich prayer room


Munich Airport has officially opened its new Muslim prayer room. In attendence (and pictured above) were Mohammed A. Al Romaithi, from the General Consul of the UAE, Ahmad Al-Khalifa, head of the Munich Islamic Center, and Salah Elenany, the Vice President of the Bavarian Arabic Society. Last year, routes to the Near East accounted


for some 870,000 through passengers at Munich Airport, and Module C in Terminal 1 serves as a gateway to the Arab world, where airlines such as Emirates, Etihad Airways and Oman Air offer flights to major centers in the Gulf states. Men and women can pray separately in the


new room and the decor includes carpets from Dubai and paintings by a Jordanian artist. In addition to signage in Arabic, food services in the departure area feature halal menu selections. www.munich-airport.de/en

Norduyn named ‘Company of the Year’


Aviation product manufacturer and supplier Norduyn was voted company of the year in the overall and manufacturing category, at this year’s Apha Awards in Montreal. The alpha contest is organized by the Saint-


Laurent Chamber of Commerce in Montreal, to recognize the achievements of companies located on its territory. Norduyn distinguished itself for increased


sales, intensified investment in research and development and creating jobs at its Montreal facility. The panel underlined the fact that more than 80% of the company’s sales were generated from products created in the last 2 years. Norduyn was also a winner in 2010 of the
