Advanced new facility for Weir Minerals Multiflo

Weir Group CEO, Keith Cochrane, officially opened Weir Minerals Multi- flo’s advanced new facility in Coolum, Queensland, Australia in September 2010. Keith told the 200 guests, includ- ing customers, suppliers and staff, that he was delighted and proud to be part of the exciting growth experienced at the fa- cility, contributing to the Group’s financial performance and recent promotion to the FTSE 100. Tribute was also paid to managing

director, Paul Avey and his dedicated team for the manner in which the reloca- tion was carried out. Paul Avey told the audience that Weir Minerals Multiflo had grown from humble beginnings and is now an internationally recognised leader in the industry of designing, manufac- turing and supporting mine dewatering

pumps. Paul said, “Following Weir’s ac- quisition of the company two years ago, this business has grown into one of the highest growth potential units within the Group.

I am proud of this business and what the team has achieved. I am excited

about the potential following the success- ful completion of this move and it is now our responsibility to realise this potential. Finally, I am excited about leading this great team of passionate and dedicated people into the future to reach significant goals in the Asia Pacific region and glo- bally through the Weir network.” Federal Member of Parliament for Fair-

fax, Alex Somlyay, welcomed Keith and the executive Weir team to his electorate and congratulated the company on its decision to invest in Coolum and for its ongoing confidence in the Asia Pacific region.

In 2005 Weir Minerals Multiflo estab- lished a sales service and parts facility in Balikpapan, Indonesia to support the large number of dewatering pumps in the East Kalimantan coal fields. The company now has four branches located throughout East Kalimantan and Sumatra providing support to over 30 companies. A roadshow was held at the end of 2010 to thank customers for their sup- port and to showcase Weir products and support capability. The event was a suc- cess which led to a number of positive leads that have already materialised into sales. Weir Minerals Multiflo’s product devel-

opment continues and this year they will be introducing a new concept that will provide total dewatering management to achieve consistent dry mine status.
