Oil & Gas Forum develops cross-divisional initiatives

Perry Poradek, newly appointed director of the Oil & Gas Forum with over 25 years experience in the industry, hosted a meeting in January, to leverage the strength of all three Weir Divisions to identify new oil and gas opportunities in North America. Perry said, “We have so much to gain by collaborating between our divisions. We are building something together as one team to create new solutions for our customers and develop more opportunities for Weir within the oil and gas markets.

Perry has high expectations for the Oil & Gas Forum and has meetings scheduled in Europe and the Middle East to progress new tools and products that can be applied to the oil and gas market. “There is tremendous opportunity to de- velop something with enormous potential and watch it grow to significantly enhance Weir’s bottom line. Activities initiated by the Oil & Gas Forum could become one of the biggest organic growth opportunities for Weir,” said Perry.

First live test via the internet

In October 2010, Weir Specialty Pumps’ lab team put its newly

installed 360 degree cameras to the test when it conducted its first live witness test over the internet. Located in Salt Lake City in the USA, the lab filmed the testing of a Hidrostal product for a customer in Canada. The customer, based in Canada, was able to see the entire setup of the pump and viewed the data being plotted during the testing of a number of duty points as if he was actually sitting in the test lab room.
