TAQA Bratani Limited award pump maintenance contract
Weir Oil and Gas Services Aberdeen in the UK has signed a three year contract with
TAQA Bratani Limited, the UK division of the Abu Dhabi National Energy company, to provide pump maintenance to its offshore UK assets. The contract covers all aspects of pump re-
pair and repair management, pump upgrades and re-rates, offshore field service, spares management and engineering support. Commenting on the contract award, Keith
(l-r) Billy McKenzie, Tamar Eid, Keith Peach, David Collins
Peach, regional managing director UK, said: “This is a fantastic contract for Weir who has many years of operational history with the equipment on these assets when they were owned by Shell. Record year of success in Nuclear Power
As well as a record year for orders in nuclear power, Weir Power & Industrial scored a first with safety valves for a prototype in the latest fourth generation reactor technology. The prototype will be the world’s first
High Temperature Gas-Cooled Reactor design (HTR). The plant will be located in China and will deploy 4th genera- tion reactor technology. Weir will also supply nuclear valves to what will be the first new nuclear power plants to be built in the USA in over 20 years. Order intake for the supply of valves
Multi-million dollar contract in Dubai
Weir Oil & Gas services in Dubai were awarded with a multi-million dollar contract to design, manufacture and supply 18 metre long manifolds weighing 45 tonnes each and associated valves as part of the regenera- tion of Iraq’s infrastructure. The leading major oil customer conducting the development and operation of one of the largest producing fields, worked to a strict deadline in order to achieve a 10% increase on the initial production target. The project was initially awarded to Weir in
Abu Dhabi who identified the Weir business in Dubai as being the most suitable facility to execute the order. The manifolds, some of the largest in Iraq, comprised over 800 valves which were sourced and expedited by Weir Group Trading Shanghai in China. A full time dedicated engineer managed the manufacture and testing of the valves. Weir offered a full range of services and
support from the initial enquiry through to delivery.
Major pump overhaul contract
Weir Power & Industrial’s turbomachinery business has won a significant contract to
overhaul all pumps and ancillary equipment at two geothermal power stations in the Philippines. The main Bacman plant and smaller sister
plant are located within one mile of each other. A total of 44 pumps will be overhauled within a tight timescale, with completion at the main plant scheduled for the end of March and the smaller plant by the end of June.
16 The project is lead by overseas project man-
ager Jeremy Walker, who will be supported by two service engineers and will employ 50 local technicians.
The plants are owned by Energy Develop- ment Corporation (EDC), a leading privately- owned geothermal plant operator based in the Philippines. Geothermal power is an environmen- tally-friendly method of power production without the need for use of fossil fuels.
to nuclear new build stations, as well as replacement parts and service to existing sites was a record £48m. In support of its growth plans in nuclear power, Weir is implementing an aggressive programme of new product development and product improvement to meet the requirements of enhanced reactor technology. The World Nuclear Association forecasts at least 73GW of new capacity by 2020 and further significant new build activity to 2030.
Weir Gabbioneta supply Shah Gas plant
Weir Gabbioneta will supply multistage and centrifugal pumps for the Abu Dhabi Gas Industries Ltd (GASCO) Shah Gas plant in the United Arab Emirates. Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) intend to develop onshore gas reserves at Shah under the sour gas development programme. The gas will primarily be used as feedstock for new power, desalination and petrochemical plants in Abu Dhabi, Northern Emirates and also for reinjection in to oil fields to maintain reservoir pressure.
The centrifugal pumps supplied are
engineered for heavy duty services, with some complex metallurgy such as Duplex pumps for light condensate services and Alloy condenser pumps.
