Weir SPM global expansion
Weir SPM service centre in Macae, Brasil
Weir SPM continue to support their customers with the opening of two new
service centres in Macae, Brasil and Williamsport, Pennsylvania in the USA. The new facility in Brasil provides service support to both onshore and offshore oilfield service companies in the region and surrounding South American companies. Key
services offered at this location include rental programmes for flow line restraint systems, mobile recertification units and flow control. This centre is Weir SPM’s first service facility in South America. Growing activity in the Marcellus shale
field and a requirement for customer service support resulted in Weir SPM opening a
service centre in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. The 50,000 sq ft facility is capable of servicing full iron refurbishment, pump repair activities and has two pressure booths for testing. The service centre will have a full service machine and welding shop by the end of 2011 to provide better support to customers.
New system enhances operations
The relocation project of the manufactur- ing and sales and marketing functions of
Power & Industrial’s safety valve business in India is nearing completion. The project sees the relocation of manu- facturing operations and sales and marketing functions, a distance of approximately 500 kil- ometres from Bangalore to Hubli. Equipment, machinery and employees have relocated in the process. Employees have recently trained in the assembly, inspection and testing of safety valves. Sales and marketing functions from the Middle East, India, France and South Africa have also come together in the reloca- tion project. The new location of the safety valve business will bring about improvements in lead time, communication and reactivity to benefit customers.
