MINERALS OIL & GAS POWER & INDUSTRIAL WEIRBULLETIN | MARCH 2011
Memorable day for Weir Minerals Europe
Ardent fans at the Weir Minerals site in Todmorden in the UK got the chance to meet some of their footballing heroes recently when players from championship side Burnley FC visited for a tour of the site and meet the staff. A chance meeting in an airport lounge between lifelong Burnley supporter Weir Minerals Europe managing director, Tony Locke and Burnley manager Brian Laws instigated the visit.
The gentlemen recognised the op- portunity to strengthen the relationship between the two local organisations and seized the chance to give some- thing back to staff at Todmorden. The Burnley team were very im- pressed with the facility and were
enthused with the skill and dedication shown by the Weir Minerals Europe staff. The team visit created a real buzz throughout the site. In addition to several local press delegates, a camera team from Sky Sports News arrived to record the event. The players stayed on site for most of the afternoon to meet sup-
porters, sign team posters and shirts, before touring the facility to meet fans and learn more about the business. A signed team shirt presented to Tony Locke will be framed and placed on display.
