PETER JACKSON

Heya how’s it going? Not too bad,not too bad!

So you’re from Canada how was life there growing up? Were you always into music? From the time I was 16 I was really getting into it, free styling at house parties and doing all that kind of stuff and then from there it esca- lated itself it grew into a business and as I got a little bit older enough to get into the clubs and that’s when it started to escalate for me. I’ve always been listening to hip hop but free styling and house par- ties was when I was 15/16 is when I really started.

So your 25 and you’ve accom- plished so much what’s been one of your highlights? Defiantly when I toured across Canada with Akon, I did a bunch of stadiums and touring around stadi- ums is just so nice because of the amount of people you are in front of. For me its just being able to take care of my family-this is a big highlight for me and a big blessing and being able to make a living

from doing, what I love and being able to help people is defiantly a big thing for me.

Are you close with your family? Yes very close especially with my mum as if it wasn’t for her I have no idea where I would be right now, between her and music I’d prob- ably be caught up in crazy stuff. My mums my number one fan!

You’ve got your new track out with Sizzla which is going to be out in a couple of days, how was that working with him?

Yes that’s the thing too In this business I’ve had the chance to work with absolutely everyone I can imagine in the hip hop industry and Naughty By Nature Treach has been like a father to me but when I went down to Jamaica and shot that video. We shot it in Kingston for 3 or 4 days so that was abso- lutely incredible to have the chance to do that .

So did you guys hang out a lot then?

Tabatha Taylor

The biggest talent to come out of Canada, this guy has toured with the likes of Busta Rymes and Wu-Tang. Releasing his debut new single ‘Miss Right’ featuring Sizzla, we chatted to him about hanging out in Jamaica shooting his video.

Yeah we got to do a lot of stuff, when I got to Sizzla’s compound he took me to King Jamys studio where Bob Marley used to record and we did a couple of records, songs for his albums that’s coming out that no ones heard yet and we did a mix tape record together too.

Did you smoke a lot of weed?! It was horrible weed actually!

It was horrible why? In Canada we have incredible weed, down there was organi- cally grown outside they didn’t do anything to it, I’m used to smoking really good weed.

So you’re going to stick to the Canadian stuff? Yes!

Within your music do you think it’s important to push the boundaries within rap and hip-hop ? Yes I think you just have to be super true to what you are doing, if your honest about it. I mean I grew up around gangs and a lot

of good people as well. I’m not a gangster I’m just a real person but I’ve always hustled my own life but I think pushing the boundar- ies and work ethics speak for itself but that’s not enough Jay Z isn’t Jay Z because he made ‘Dirt off your shoulders’

it’s the worth

ethics behind Rocca Fella he’s untouchable, people cant do what Jay Z can do, because at the end of the day your only on stage for 15 minutes, 23 hours in the day you need to be pushing it.

Have you got any New Years resolutions? No I actually don’t want to change anything right now, I just want to keep things the same. I don’t usu- ally stick to resolutions anyway!
