Anne died peacefully in her sleep on November 15, 2010. Born Harriet Anne Parker on December 24, 1923 in Tsinan, China, Anne grew up in Hanover,Indiana, served in the WAVES during World WarII as an Aerial Gunner Trainer from 1944 - 1946, and graduated from Oberlin College in 1948. She and her beloved husband Bill were married for over 60
years.Anne is survived by her four children, Susan (Florida), David (Connecticut), Stephen (West Virginia) and Mary (Maryland), eight beloved grandchildren and ahost of other loving family members.A memorial service will be held on Saturday,December 18, 2010 at 2p.m. at Pilgrim United Church of Christ, 2206 Briggs Road, Silver Spring, MD 20906. He worked for the Depart- ment of the Army and in 1976 relocated to Alexandria Virginia. He held various posi- tions within U.S. Army Materiel Develop- ment and Readiness Command and earned the Secretary of the Army’sKnoxAward for acquisition.

Dottie.They met and fell in love as teenagers and recently celebrated their forty-third wed- ding anniversary.Over time they became avid travelers.Onrecent trips they explored ancient ruins in Mexico,sailed the Caribbean, hiked in the Canadian Rockies and cruised along glaciers in Alaska. Most of all, Jim and Dottie loved to sit together, sip wine and enjoy sunsets over Smith Mountain Lake.
Jim is also survived by his sister Alice, children Jim and Nancy and two grandchil- dren. His family remembers his problem- solving mind, determination, courage and strength.
