If you have struggled with conveying this to your kids, try let- ting Elmo do all the work. In his live performance, “Elmo’s Healthy Heroes!” the cud- dly red “Sesame Street” character and his friends help Grover get his “superness” back through messages about living a health- ful lifestyle. // Thursday through Dec. 19. Sacred, but darkly so

At this time of year, even atheists may start thinking about sacred art. That makes “The Glory of Ukraine: Sacred Images From the 11th to the 19th Centuries” at Meridian International Center worth checking out. The exhibition focuses on icons and liturgical treasures from the collections of the oldest monastery in Ukraine, as well as from the Lviv National Museum. Eastern icons tend to be a darker image of the sacred than Western pictures, but that can make them more potent. // Through Jan. 16. Meridian International Center, 1630 Crescent Pl. NW. 202-667-6800. www.meridian.org. Free.
