Digital photos were taken of the actual guitar and im- ported into the computer. “The picture was then cut into eight sections the same way that we had designed the gui- tar. We then created lines around the different shapes of the wood grain and made a transparency with that draw- ing” explained Ducote. The drawing was then superim- posed onto the guitar with the use of an overhead projec- tor. “The painters had to work nights so they could see the image on the large guitar parts. They would use the projector to get the basic shapes and turn on the lights and free hand the rest.”

Kojis has about 65 employees total, most run service trucks and cranes but at any given time there could be about 25 total shop employees. Just a portion of the total shop employees worked on the guitar, the rest of the of the sign crew worked on smaller projects being built in the sign shop. The team:

Jack Gremillion - President - Engineer Todd Ducote - Shop foreman - Designer David Holsumback - Asst. Shop foreman - Painter Jason Ducote - Head Welder - Electrician Chris Young - Welder - Electrician

Darren Aney - Head Sheet Metalman - Electrician Chris Marcotte - Head Painter - Body Man Calvin Johnson - Head Body Man - Painter Sherman Black - Body Man Brian Craig - Neon Tube Bender Cody Comaux - Sheet Metalman - Electrician Kevin Marcotte - Purchasing Agent - Sheet Metalman In order to prepare the sections of the guitar for paint- ing Calvin Johnson and Sherman Black had to fill the aluminum seams. The project then had to be sanded and acid washed before painting could begin. It took the two men about ten weeks to do all of the sign sections and sign parts.
