Here we are going to show you how to get great metallic looking temporary tattoos using only one metallic color. We are also going to show you several tricks of the trade to make things easier. As we are using alcohol based body ink we first clean the skin with 91% alcohol to remove any oils
on the skin so the tattoo ink will stick and last several days. The ink we are using usually lasts 5 days or more depend- ing on skin type, 91% alcohol is also great for cleaning the airbrush.
To prevent over spray.we have added a border using duct tape and then round- ed the corners for a professional look. With two part stencils instead of trying to line up the second stencil by eye we tape both parts together making a flip type stencil with perfect alignment.
After the skin is cleaned we place the stencil on the arm with the bottom of the stencil in place.
Our first color is Badgers Totally Tat- too black sprayed at 15 psi.
Next we flip the top stencil down over the bottom stencil; notice how easy the stencils line up this way. Now we will spray Airbrush Bodyart’s silver over the Badger black; again at 15 psi.
Add red to the ribbon and green on the bell with just a little ABA silver over the green to act as a high light. We’ll leave the bells clapper silver for a little contrast.
Here’s the finished tattoo as you can see the silver under coat gives a metal- lic look to the regular tattoo paint. You can also see there is no overspray to clean by using the duct tape border.
Here’s a few other Christmas designs painted using the black base, sliver under coat system to give a metallic look. This will save you from purchas- ing extra body inks. Here we have used Badgers red, blue and green. To see more of Neil’s work or to learn about his body painting workshops please visit his web site www.
