Step#2: Here I take my white and lay out where the name will go. I will be using block letters but it’s easier to place the block letters if you lay your letters in first with a simple stick let- ter.
Step#3: Now I lay out block letters with my white. I find it’s much faster employing this technique instead of drawing the block letters in with chalk.
Step#4: I fill in my letters with white after which I heat set the stocking; one more application of white and heat set one more time. Doing this dries the paint and helps you achieve a much brighter white. Now using a snowflake stencil I bought at the craft store, I add two white snowflakes. At the bottom I lay out a grouping of holly which I will go over later.
Step#5: Now to brighten our stocking up I’ll use opaque yellow and go over my lettering. I only have to use 1 coat of the yellow since I used the white first. If you don’t have opaque yel- low, transparent yellow will work also.
Step#6: Now I add transparent orange and start at the top and fade it down into the yellow. These are the colors I chose to use for the how to, but your customer will probably choose dif- ferent colors for the lettering. Any color will work the same way.
Step#7:As you can see out lining the letters and holly berries, leaves with black really makes them stand out. Next I use red and fill in the berries and add a shadow on the berries with a little violet. I use green and fill in the leaves.
