STEP 7: Now we start adding the bright colors. I use a custom mixture of Transparent Base, Transparent Apple Green, and Irides- cent Bright Yellow to make this unique Lime color. I am using the transparent base to extend the transparency of the colors since the Apple Green and Iridescent Bright Yellow are regular transparent and not candy colors. I use a mixture of 1-part transparent base to 1-part color. The Candy or very transparent paint is the secret to al- lowing the ground design of the sheet metal to show through. Spray very light coats and be sure to let it dry between each one. I like to use a hair dryer to speed up the drying process. Usually, Auto Air dries fast enough that heat is not required.

STEP 8: Here is a picture of the final lime green color. Tilting the panel reveals the text in a different light. This lighting creates inter- esting effects as light hits the panel from different directions.

STEP 9: Next step is to use the 1/8” tape again to mask off the green. This is easy to do by using the existing tape edge as a guide. Remove the mask over the bottom graphic being sure not to remove the area, which is to stay clear. We use Candy Purple and lightly spray several coats over the graphic.

STEP 11: Now it’s time to add some very light drop shadows. I use a mixture of 1-to-1 of Transparent Base and Transparent Black for this. I use a freehand stencil to create the shadow where the purple graphic overlaps.
