“The guitar is painted with DBU base coat / clear coat. It’s automotive paint. We had to go with two stage paint so we could blend the colors the way we wanted. We used over $40,000.00 of PPG coverings on the guitar,” said Ducote. “They tell us that it should last eight to ten years even in the coastal conditions.”


“From the fabricators to the installers we are very proud of the men that worked on this project. There were many different trades required to put a project like this one to- gether and I think they all passed with flying colors. The sign was built to withstand 180 mph winds. Biloxi area recorded sustained winds of over 100 mph for over seven hours straight and wind gust up to 184 mph and the giant guitar stood up to the conditions.”
