MEDAL OF HONOR shot straight to the top of the charts this week, eclipsing the
other massive EA title FIFA 11 from the No.1 spot. It’s the biggest ever launch for a Medal of Honor game with 52 per cent of sales on Xbox 360, 43 per cent on PS3 and five per cent on PC.
Meanwhile, UBISOFT takes the No.3 spot with Just Dance 2. It’s the sequel to last year’s million-selling Just Dance, which only debuted at No.30 when it hit shelves in November 2009, but has regularly featured in the Top Ten since the following month. Just Danceis also this year’s biggest-selling single- format game, and is currently in twelfth place. If this is anything to go by, Just Dance 2will be huge.
Elsewhere in the Top Ten, a big marketing push from NINTENDO helps Wii Party rise six places from No.10 to No.4, while two KONAMI titles PES 2011and Castlevania: Lords of Shadowfall to fifth and tenth respectively.
Anime fighting game sequel Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2also breaks its way into the Top Ten at No.9, courtesy of NAMCO BANDAI. The franchise has a cult following across the globe. The publisher’s other big release this quarter, Enslaved, slips to No.11 following a drop in sales of 39 per cent.
The only other new entry in the Top 40 this week is 2K GAMES’ Borderlands: Game of the Year edition. This reaches No.35 ahead of re- entries BioShock 2(No.37) and Just Cause 2 (No.40).
